Shawn Kemp

Real Name: Shawn T. Kemp, (born: November 26, 1969 )

Shawn KempIs a former American professional basketball player. Once fascinated the NBA with his powerful dunks. Known as the manchild for jumping to the League from high school then the Reign Man for raining dunks on those who got in his way. He was a powerful force on the basketball court and many of his powerful dunks can be found on youtube.

Kemp currently resides somewhere in Houston Texas.

After trying several times to play again for the NBA with teams such as the Dallas Mavericks and Denver the Nuggets, on August 18th, 2008, Kemp inked a contract with Premiata Montegranaro of Italian League. Despite being almost 39, he is said to be in good shape. The Premiata deal came about by the good relationship between Kemp and Roberto Carmenati, the new Team Director of Montegranaro. However, after some delays in Kemp arriving to Italy and some misunderstandings, the team decided to cut him even before the start of the regular season.

Biography


Kemp attended Concord High School in Elkhart, Indiana. He was considered to be one of the top four or five players nationally his senior year, and lead his team to the state championship finals. After graduation, Kemp signed a national letter-of-intent to play basketball at the University of Kentucky. However, he was kicked off the team before the season started for allegedly pawning a necklace belonging to teammate and coach's son Sean Sutton. He transferred mid-season to Trinity Valley Community College in Texas, but was too late to suit up for the squad. After a semester at TVCC, 19-year-old Shawn Kemp declared himself eligible for the 1989 NBA Draft without any collegiate experience.
